  • for my family to love me like they do my siblings
  • for God to be back
  • for my family to not be torn apart, that we're together again, not spread out all over
  • no more people dying of hunger
  • a dad that will always care
  • for my mother to have a little money
  • for life to be special and amazing just like people always say it can be

  • that all wealthy people would give money to the poor
  • for the word "poor" to never exist in this world
  • that children would never cry under their covers
  • that every family in need would have a tree lit up for them with a present under the tree
  • that my dad's back will get better so we can play tackle like we used to
  • that my Pawpaw didn't have "all-timers"
  • I pray to God that He will fix our water and take away the ants where we will not have to move this Christmas
  • I would wish that my family would make enough money to survive on (There are so many people who are basically making enough money just to eat)
  • that no one would ever have to feel one bit of loneliness
  • someone to tell me i'll be fine, a friend to keep me safe, someone to keep me in line, to hold my heart in his hands, my dad
  • if you are gone or here, I love you so much, and to see your face again would be such a blessing, my maw-maw
  • for my dad to be under the tree when I wake up that Christmas morning
  • and most of all that every soul would be saved and get to meet God and Jesus in heaven where the streets are gold

Couponing 101

Here are some tips that help me coupon and shop quicker:

Prep:
  • First and foremost, decide where you would like to do your groceries and make sure to read that stores coupon policies. This is VERY important.
  • Visit the coupon sites that you like and print the coupons you need as well as (if available) overage coupons.
*Use different zip codes to get different coupons. The ones that work best for me are 77477, 90210, and 10119

{If you shop at Walmart (like I do) they accept price matches as well as overage (overage is when the coupon is worth more than the product and the remaining goes towards the rest of the purchase or is given to the customer in cash)}.
  • If you shop at a grocery store that price matches, make sure to visit other stores sites and make a grocery list of products that are cheaper than where you are going (i.e., If I find toothpaste cheaper at Publix than Walmart I will either add that to my grocery list from that site or bring in the flyer so Walmart will price match that item).
*Walmart cashiers usually keep a flyer with items they price match so you don't need to bring anything in with you on your trip, but I prefer to have it just in case. If you don't have access to a computer to make a grocery list, grab the fliers and circle what you need and write them down.
  • After gathering your coupons and grocery lists, organize the coupons and make a note either on your grocery list what items have coupons (I usually just write a "C" for items that have coupons).
*Make sure to read the coupon policies on the coupon.Tricky coupon lingo: most coupons say "Limit one coupon per purchase" this means just the purchase, NOT the entire transaction. So once you have enough coupons to match the product, you can get as many as you want. If it says "Limit one coupon per transaction, you are only allowed 1 coupon for the entirety of your transaction (some places may allow multiple transactions).

*Organizing your coupons is vital to your shopping trip. Use whatever technique works the best for you. I use a 2 inch trapper keeper ($10 @ Walmart) with plenty of pockets and photo page inserts (from Walmart & Hobby Lobby, $2-$4/pk.). Having everything organized will make this venture way less stressful and faster. Here's a site that has some really nice coupon organizers www.couponclutch.com/ .

Let's go shopping!:
  • Please make sure to eat a good meal before heading out. These shopping trips can sometimes take 3-4 maybe even 5 hours. The last thing you want to happen is to start purchasing the unnecessary because it all looks good at the moment. You also want to have a good energy level so you can be more alert and focused. Also, keep an eye out for clearance/sale items, the goal is to try and get the most out of your coupons!
  • If this is a large shopping trip, I recommend using 2 carts, (hopefully you have someone to go with you). One for items that are NOT price matched and the other for items that ARE price matched. This is an excellent way to organize the cart because when it comes time to pay its going to be fast and stress free for both you and your cashier. They really appreciate this.
*When getting items that have coupons make sure to check it off your list and put the coupons in a spot where you can place all of them so when it comes time to pay, you know where all your coupons are.
  • Start with non grocery items first and them work your way from the boxed/canned/paper products down to the frozen and produce.
Time to pay:
  • Let the cashier know first how you will be setting up the transaction. Start with the price matched cart and place (if any) the BOGO items first, then the items that have various values that are price matched. When your price matching cart is finished continue to the next cart and when everything has been rung up hand the cashier the coupons and watch your total drop!
Just FYI:
  • Your first trip couponing will most likely be more expensive because this is all new territory. After that initial purchase, your totals will most likely be less and less because eventually you will end up getting only the items that are on sale or that you have a coupon for. Its a learning experience that will save you a ton of money (sometimes even get paid) and will have you saying "I can't believe I didn't do this sooner!"

Thanks for reading and please feel free to ask me anything!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Cindy

Overage 12.18.11

There are still awesome overage coupons available for printing. My advice to those with more than 1 computer in your home.....use them all! Coupons on sites such as SmartSource, Coupons.com, and Red Plum only allow certain amount of prints per computer so take advantage and print as many as you can.

Here are the overage coupons that are still available:

$5/2 Dulcolax Products (8-10 ct - Walmart$1.98)
-FREE w/$1.04 overage!

$2/1 Kashi food (Walmart has them for $1.25)

-FREE w/$.075 overage!

$1/1 Aquafresh Extreme Clean Toothpaste (travel size, Walmart-$0.97)
-FREE w/$0.03 overage!

$3/1 KY Jelly (2oz, prices may vary)
-FREE w/ anywhere from $0.38-$0.16 overage!

As I said before, these coupons are the best! They will pay for the rest of the items you have due to the overage and sometimes you may even get money back!

*Please always read your store's coupon policy. Its always a good idea to know what they accept and what they do not.

Good luck on couponing this week! :)

Sincerely,

Cindy

Paid $4.78 for almost $50 worth of products!

So another day of couponing at Walmart and it just seems to get better and better. The overage coupons I used today were the $2/1 Kashi product, $5/2 Dulcolax products, $3/1 KY product and $1/1 Aquafresh Extreme Clean Toothpaste (travel size). These coupons are absolutely amazing, they're all available online and they pay for the other items that you don't have coupons for. With these products I also purchased a shower curtain liner, cold/hot pack (for sore muscles), 2 boxes of Kix cereal, a package of photo page refills (for my coupons), and carpet deodorizer. I know you must be thinking why I only got these items, but its all I really needed this trip. I printed these coupons and used them just for the items I need at the moment. That's the beauty of couponing, once you get your stock going whatever comes after will most likely be free and in some cases you can even get paid to take it home!

While I was there I chatted it up with my cashier and she mentioned how one of her co-workers also coupons and has a stocked area that she gives to the less fortunate. How wonderful is that? To be able (in an economy like this) to feed your family and others just by couponing and price matching at barely any cost to you. Every time I coupon I think of it as legitimate Monopoly money. Its an amazing concept to use coupons (like money) and have it pay for your purchase.

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Cindy

Tips on Finding Coupons

I know some of you have probably searched every site possible to find the best coupons but have you tried different zip codes?

I've done some research and when using different zip codes you can in fact find more coupons. Some zip codes can give you higher value coupons or just provide more. Here are the coupons that I've found the most success with:

77477 (on average, this zip code has the most coupons available)
12345
10119

Also, if your a Walmart shopper like I am, I also recommend getting together your local ads (most grocery stores have them online where you can actually make a list and print it out on there site) and finding the best deals. I start with the BOGO's then look for coupons that I can use towards that deal. Then, I go to the value deals (i.e. 4/$5) and look for coupons to match those as well.

BI-LO's BOGO's

Here are the BOGO's for BI-LO valid from 12/14-12/20 (If you shop at Walmart and have a BI-LO within 50 miles you can price match these products):

Cake Pops

If you have a sweet tooth.....you can satisfy it with just one of these bad boys :)
Super sweet and delicious

Ingredients
1 box of white cake (bake according to directions on box)
1 tub of frosting (whatever flavor your heart desires)
Sprinkles......lots o' sprinkles!
Melted chocolate (I used the microwaveable kind and it created a nice hard shell)
Parchment paper

Directions
After baking, let cool and then cut cake and crumble
Add entire tub of frosting and mix until blended (use your hands its much easier)
Add sprinkles to the cake mix (optional-this makes it look pretty when you cut it open)
Make small balls (blow pop sized) until cake is finished
Place cake pops on parchment paper and freeze for about 30 minutes
Melt chocolate and coat cake pop and place it back on the parchment paper
Then sprinkle!
Lastly, place in the refrigerator for about 1 hour so the chocolate forms a nice hard shell

Sincerely,

Cindy <3

Dumpster Diving for the 1st time!!!!

So today my mother in law and I had to stop inside of a Dollar Tree to pick up a Sunday paper and there it was.....the glorious green cardboard bin full of newspapers and inserts! At first I was a bit shy to go through this bin due to the fact that I wasn't sure if it was allowed, then I met a fellow couponer and she said "there ain't nothin' to be shy bout saving money!". This was my moment! I dug and dug and dug and in 10 minutes managed to get some decent coupons. The great thing about doing this is that you can grab as many coupon inserts as you want. I still recommend picking up a paper, but this is a great idea just to get some more coupons for free.

Its not crazy to be an active couponer, its crazy to not save money!
